There have been random sightings of this over the past few months, and today Google made it official… they’re introducing paid search ads placed at the bottom of their search engine results pages.
Ads that were previously shown on the right hand side of the SERPs will be replaced by ads at the bottom of the page… at least in some cases. Google says that click-through rates for the bottom placement perform better that those of the traditional side placement, and they’re providing a “more seamless and consistent online experience” that will fit better into the user’s “flow”.
No doubt this change is also driven by Google’s flow… cash flow, that is.
