Search Engines Slow to Respond to FTC Warnings

The AP submitted a series of random querries to Alltheweb, AOL, AltaVista, AskJeeves, Google, Hotbot, Looksmart, Lycos, MSN, Overture, Netscape, and Yahoo! during the week of July 11, to determine whether or not the search engines had made any changes to comply with the FTC’s recommendations. They conclude that “all but one [Google] of the surveyed search engines will have to make revisions to meet the FTC’s guidelines.”
